APOSTLE WINS MICHAEL PARRAVICINO MEMORIAL (GR.11RB. - BAR)

The Elias Haloute and Sir Charles Williams owned chestnut colt APOSTLE made it a pole to pole victory in the feature Michael Parravicino Memorial Hopeful Breeders' Stakes & Trophy (GR.11RB. - BAR) on the Sixth Day of the the Barbados Turf Club's First Racing Season Saturday March 24, 2007.

Jockey Anderson Trotman put the Andrew Nunes trained APOSTLE to the front from the off and he was followed in the early stages by SHOCK AND AWE, CHARLIE BLUE, BOUNCEBAK and SANTA MARTA.

At the five furlong pole APOSTLE continued to lead from SHOCK AND AWE with Juan Crawford on the William Clarke trained CHARLIE BLUE taking closer order.

With three furlongs to go APOSTLE held a conformable lead from CHARLIE BLUE who had drawn alongside of SHOCK AND AWE while Anderson Ward could be seen closing on the Equus Stables HAWAYAN TROPIC.

It was APOSTLE who led the field into the home stretch with HAWAYAN TROPIC, CHARLIE BLUE and AQUARIUS STAR in hot pursuit.

In the end it was APOSTLE who hit the line first, at the same time setting a new class record of 1.34.4 seconds for the 1570 metres (7.8 furlongs) race. The Victor Cheesman trained HAWAYAN TROPIC finished second; CHARLIE BLUE owned by Lord Michael Taylor - Clifton Racing held on for third with the Victor Cheesman and Mervyn Rollins owned AQUARIUS STAR with Chris Husbands in the irons finishing fourth.

Jockeys Chris Husbands, Anderson Trotman and Anderson Ward shared the jockey honours of the day with two wins each.

Trainer Andrew Nunes came out firing on all cylinders, saddling the winners of race one and three and then followed up by landing the feature race with APOSTLE.

Elizabeth Deane saddled the winners of the fifth and sixth races.

Racing is scheduled to continue Easter Monday, April 9, 2007 with the feature event being the  first jewel of the Barbados Triple Crown, the Banks Barbados Guineas (GR.1R. - BAR)
