Barbados Gold Cup 2007

CONDITIONS
A weight-for-age race over 1 1/8 miles (1800 metres) on the turf open to three-year-olds and over horses from any country with a Recognised Turf Authority to be run on Saturday March 3, 2007. In order to maximize international participation, specific notification of this race will be given to Recognised Turf Authorities in the Caribbean (including Puerto Rico), the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America.
1. SCALE OF WEIGHTS AND ALLOWANCES
Ø 5-YEAR - OLDS & OVER 129 lb
Ø 4-YEAR - OLDS 125 lb
Ø 3-YEAR - OLDS 109 lb
Ø Fillies and mares allowed 3 lb.
Ø West Indian bred horses allowed 7lb.
Ø No maiden or apprentice allowances.
2. NOMINATION, PRE-ENTRY and ENTRY FEES
Ø A non-refundable nomination fee of US$125.00 (BDS$250.00) shall be paid on or before Friday January 12, 2007.
Ø A non-refundable pre-entry fee of US$500.00 (BDS$1,000.00) shall be paid on or before Friday January 26, 2007.
Ø Horses for which the nomination fee was not paid on Friday January 12, 2007 will be eligible for pre-entry on Friday January 26, 2007 upon payment of a non-refundable late fee US$1,250.00 (BDS$2,500.00).
Ø An entry fee for pre-entered horses of US$1,250.00 (BDS$2,500.00) shall be paid on or before Thursday February 22, 2007 at 9:00AM.
3. PROCEDURES, ELIGIBILITY, SELECTION
Ø There shall be a maximum of Twelve (12) runners. Overseas based horses which have complied with these conditions shall have a maximum of six (6) places.
Ø In the event that nominations for more than six (6) overseas based horses are received, the Barbados Turf Club reserves the right to establish its own criteria for the selection of the six (6) overseas based horses.
Ø Due consideration will be given to having as many countries as possible being represented in the race, as well as high quality horses of demonstrated ability being given the opportunity to participate in the race. The rankings will be announced or published not later than Thursday February 1, 2007.
Ø In the event that nominations from overseas based horses are less than six (6), Barbadian based horses shall be allocated the extra place or places.
Ø Horses will not be eligible for representing Barbados unless they are in Barbados not later than the Friday 12 January, 2007.
Ø Horses eligible for representing Barbados will, in the event that there are more pre-entrants than available places to be filled, be selected by the Classification Committee which will be guided by the following criteria:-
¨ Preference to higher classified horses;
¨ Horses which have demonstrated the ability to perform well at 1 1/8 miles (1800 metres)
¨ Horses performances in the following races:-
q The Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup (March 2006)
q The United Insurance Barbados Derby (August 2006)
q The Val Gale Cup (June 2006)
q The Sunset Reef Stakes & Trophy (December 2006)
q The Coolmore Stakes & Trophy (January 2007)
¨ Recently imported high-quality horse(s) with demonstrated ability
¨ The previous years’ winner to defend its title, if practicable.
Ø A list of all local horses pre-entered on Friday January 26, 2007 will be published and the Classification Committee will, in the event that there are more local pre-entrants than available places to be filled, rank all such pre-entered horses according to the criteria hereinbefore stated, and such rankings will determine the selection of horses to run and the reserves. The rankings will be announced or published not later than Thursday February 1, 2007.
4. DECLARATION
Declaration for the race shall be on or before Thursday March 1, 2007 at 10:00AM. and any vacancies in the race will be filled by horses in the order of preference of the rankings published by the Classification Committee.
Entry fees will be refunded in respect of all entrants not selected to run.
5. PRE-RACE INSPECTION
Horses declared to run and such reserves as the Stewards shall determine must be made available for vetting by any of the Barbados Turf Club’s Veterinary Officers at the time and place to be notified by the Stewards. In the event of any of the said Veterinary Officers being of the opinion that any horse is unsound, the Stewards shall on being so notified, order that the horse be withdrawn from the race. All runners will be subject to the final approval by the Barbados Turf Club.
6. PRIZES
A Gold Cup and US$55,000.00 (BDS$110,000.00) to the winner

3rd place US$10,000.00 (BDS$20,000.00)
4th place US$7,000.00 (BDS$14,000.00)
5th place US$5,000.00 (BDS$10,000.00)

Note: The current exchange rate is BDS$2.00 = US $1.00
Subscriptions will be paid in the following percentages:
1st - 50%
2nd - 25%
3rd - 10%
4th - 7%
5th - 5%

7. TRANSPORT ASSISTANCE
The Barbados Turf Club will assist with the cost of transporting horse(s) to Barbados specifically for the race in an amount to be agreed upon with the Owner/Authorised Agent of the horse(s), prior to the horse(s) travelling to Barbados, once the said horse(s) has/have started in the race.
8. GENERAL
Ø In order for a horse to be eligible to take entry in Barbados it must:-
¨ be registered with the Barbados Turf Club
¨ be classified in accordance with the Rules of Racing, and
¨ comply with local quarantine and vaccination requirements. (Attached)
Ø Conditions governing the Elimination of Excess Entries shall not apply to this race.

A weight-for-age race over 5 ½ furlongs (1100 metres) on the turf open to three-year-olds and over horses to be run on Saturday March 3, 2007.

1st Subscription of $200 payable on or before Friday January 12, 2007
2nd Subscription of $300 payable on or before Friday January 26, 2007
3rd Subscription of $400 payable on or before Friday February 9, 2007
Any Owner who fails to subscribe by the due dates stated above may subscribe at any of the later dates, provided the previous unpaid subscriptions are paid together with the penalties according to the following schedule.

A weight-for-age race over 1 ¼ miles (2000 metres) on the turf open to West Indian bred four-year-olds and over horses to be run on Saturday March 3, 2007.
