The Barbados Turf Club's Second Season of Racing got off to a thrilling start on Saturday August 25, 2007, after an almost four-month break with the day's feature race being the Toad Hall Coronation Sprint Stakes & Trophy for West Indian bred 3-year-olds over 1100 metres (5½ furlongs).
The Andrew Nunes trained chestnut filly HOT SHOT owned by Sir Robin Buchanan, Michael Panter and Jim Brewer and confidently ridden by jockey Anderson Trotman easily won the feature event.
It was the Joanne Hearst-De Castro-owned colt ZIDANE trained by Liz Deane and ridden by Rico Walcott that broke first from the gates.
It was not long before Trotman asked HOT SHOT to pick up the lead and before they reached the four furlong marker HOT SHOT had taken over from ZIDANE with THE SUNDANCE KID and SUPER TARASON in pursuit.
But there was no catching the flying filly HOT SHOT who ran out a convincing winner at the same time making it three straight wins.
ZIDANE held on for second with THE SUNDANCE KID finishing third and KINGDORA fourth.
The win also gave Trotman three consecutive wins on the day as he had also won race three on VAN HELSING and race four on PERFECT GEM.
The Buckingham Palace (Condition Race) for the B2 - D1class horses over 1100 metres (5½ furlongs) was won by the Aysha Syndicate's WHO'S TO SAY with PRIMED N' LOADED second, LIGHTNING PILOT third and FAVORITE PLAYER fourth..
The two-year-olds made their debut in race one the Windsor Castle (Condition Race) over 1000 metres (5 furlongs).
That was won by the John Chandler owned, bred and trained chestnut colt HOUDINI who is by PEN IN HAND out of WITH REGARD by CARLOAD. Second was ROYAL EMBLEM and third was SPORTIN' DREAM.
Jockey Anderson Trotman was in top form booting home four winners while Ricardo Hibbert landed three winners showing glimpses of the form that saw him crowned Champion Jockey in 2002.
Trainers Andrew Nunes and Victor Cheesman were the top trainers on the day each saddling two winners.
Racing continues next Saturday with the feature race being the C. O. Williams Group of Companies Barbados Fillies Guineas (GR.1RF. - BAR). Listed below are the starters with their jockeys and trainers for the race
