The Faraway Stables owned KABUL won the feature BTBA 21st Anniversary Sprint Stakes & Trophy on Saturday August 26 2006, the final day of the Barbados Turf Club's Second Racing Season.

This is the third straight year that KABUL has triumphed in the Breeders' Sprint Stakes having won the event in 2004 and 2005. The win by the Surya Bhagwan (Mercedes Won) out of Lu's In Love bred 5-year-old dark bay horse now takes his career victories to 18 from 29 starts with earnings of $386,052.00

When Acting Starter Everton Palmer sent the field of six on their way it was KABUL with jockey Jamar Maughn astride broke smartly from the gates followed CAPTAIN PJ with Juan Crawford and VAN GOGH with Anderson Trotman.

It was the Lord Michael Taylor - Clifton Racing Stable owned CAPTAIN PJ trained by William Clarke who put his head in front of the Clayton Greenidge trained KABUL going to the three furlong pole. The two were closely followed by the Sir Charles Williams Owned VAN GOGH with the other three starters being out paced.

At the two furlong marker KABUL again got his head in front of CAPTAIN PJ whilst the Andrew Nunes trained VAN GOGH remained in contention. However there was no stopping KABUL as he opened a gap on the field entering the straight run for home and ran out an easy 3 1/2 lengths winner. DON ANGLESONNY with the promising apprentice Chris Husbands came with a late run after being totally outpaced in the early stages to finish second whilst VAN GOGH held on for third as CAPTAIN PJ faded into fourth place.

The jockey of the day was Juan Crawford who rode three winners giving him the Jockey Championship for the Second Season with 13 wins. Anderson Trotman finished the day with two wins. He finished the Season Second runner-up to Crawford with nine wins.

Trainers Elizabeth (Liz) Deane, William Clarke and Richard Deane each saddled two winners on the day whilst Owners The A Team and Lord Michael Taylor-Clifton Racing Stables both saw their horses pass the post first on two occasions.

Trainer Naz Issa finished the Second Racing Season with the most earnings whilst Elizabeth (Liz) Deane led the standing of most wins having saddled eleven winners.

The next race day is scheduled for Saturday October 21, 2006 with the feature races being the first two legs of the lucrative Diamonds International/Audemard Piguet 2-Year-Old Series of Races for West Indian bred 2-year-olds.
