PRESS RELEASE
An inspection of the racetrack at 7:30 a.m. today (Friday August 17, 2007) by Mr. Gerald Watts, Racetrack Superintendent of the Barbados Turf Club and Mr. Randy Cumberbatch, President of the Barbados Jockeys’ Association both of whom reported on the condition of the track to Ms. Debra Hughes JP, the Chairperson of the Panel of the Racecourse Stewards for Saturday August 18, 2007.
Further to discussions on the condition of the track it was decided to postpone the day’s racing and so advise the Club’s Board of the Directors, due to the track being waterlogged, and with more rain expected today and tomorrow.
Having been so informed the Board of Directors by way of a round-robin took the decision to re-schedule the raceday to Saturday August 25, 2007.
Consequent on the decision of the Board of Directors to re-schedule the raceday to Saturday August 25, 2007 the Stewards have ruled that the declaration of runners for the originally scheduled raceday of Saturday August 18, 2007 are null and void and that the deadline for the declaration of runners for the re-scheduled raceday of Saturday August 25, 2007 will now be before 10:00 a.m. on Thursday August 23, 2007.
Due to the re-scheduling of the raceday Saturday August 18, 2007 to Saturday August 25, 2007 entries for the raceday of Saturday September 1, 2007 will now be taken on Sunday August 26, 2007.
Please be guided accordingly.
