WHISKEY FOR ME

WINS THE SCOTTY'S CHAIN OF

DELICATESSENS QUEEN'S PLATE

IN HIS FIRST START IN BARBADOS

Aysha Syndicate's new import WHISKEY FOR ME won the feature race on Queen's Plate Day, the Fourth Day of the Barbados Turf Club's Second Racing Season 2006, Saturday July 22, 2006.

The 4-year-old bay gelding with Anderson Trotman in the irons scored impressively the Scotty's Chain of Delicatessens Queen's Plate for the B1-D2 horses over 1800 metres (9 furlongs).

At the break it was DON ANGLESONNY who made the early running followed by LIGHTNING PILOT with WHO'S WAVERING in third.

Going up the backstrecth the positions changed as WHO'S WAVERING with apprentice Shane Collymore in the saddle picked up the running with LIGHTNING PILOT and WHISKEY FOR ME within striking distance.

With two furlongs to go Trotman sent WHISKEY FOR ME to the front from stable companion WHO'S WAVERING with LIGHTNING PILOT within striking distance and still in the hunt.

In the end it was WHISKEY FOR ME who hit the line first from WHO'S WAVERING giving both trainer Elizabeth "Liz" Deane and owner Aysha Syndicate a one-two finish in the race. LIGHTNING PILOT held on to be third and SOUTH SEA, also trained by "Liz" Deane,  finishing fourth.

The Platinum Heights Development Trophy (sponsored by Caribbean Realtors Association Limited) for West Indian Bred 2-year-olds over 1100 metres (5½ furlongs) was won by the Lord Michael Taylor-Clifton Racing Stable owned THE SUNDANCE KID.

This William Clarke trained bay colt with Juan Crawford astride made every yard of the running to registered his second consecutive win from as many starts. Second was SUPER TARASON with O-G ZAN NAGES third and CHARLIE BLUE fourth.

The Coronation Sprint Trophy (Condition Race) for West Indian bred 3-year-olds sprinting 1100 metres (5½  furlongs) was won by the Victor Cheesman trained POETIC JUSTICE owned by Messrs. Michael Edghill and Philip Moseley.

The winning jockey was Jason Leacock. BAMBOOZLED was second, SUPERSONIC third and DREAM CATCHER fourth.

The most successful jockey on the day was Anderson Trotman with three wins whilst Juan Crawford scored twice.

Of the trainers Elizabeth "Liz" Deane in addition to saddling the winner and second placed horse in the day's feature race also scored with HERE AND NOW in race four.

Trainer Andrew Nunes also saddled two winners.

Racing continues on Saturday August 12 with the United Insurance Barbados Derby (GR.1R. - BAR) being the feature race on the card.

The Richard Edwards owned, Nazih Issa trained ZOUK has already won the first "Two Jewels" of the Triple Crown, The Banks Barbados Guineas (GR.1R. - BAR) and The Pinnacle Feeds Midsummer Creole Classic (GR.1R. - BAR) respectively, and should she triumph in The United Insurance Barbados Derby (GR.1R. - BAR) she will win the Triple Crown $100,000.00 bonus first offered to the owner of any horse winning theaforemore mentioned races in 2001.
