Analysis:
A new season of racing, and the Lord Michael Taylor-Clifton Racing team readily returned to their winning ways of last term with a pleasing score by PURR CLASS. The daughter of Greatness retained her 100% record in fine style, making virtually all the running to deny six others. She did have an easier time up front than anticipated with the late withdrawal of the highly fancied Indanger, but runner-up Dany Dany was still able to keep her honest throughout. He pressed the winner for most of the way, and even looked like stretching by over a furlong out; but hanging right towards the rail when under pressure inside the final panel settled his position as number two on the day. It was an improved run nonetheless, and encouraging for the handsome colt who may be even more effective over further. On paper Mingun Temple looked poised to take the whole cake, but may've been asked to do a bit too much having to recover from a rough start. Newcomer Sir Glacken ran a reasonable enough race against his more experienced contemporaries, and is one to follow. He's a big horse with plenty scope and should in the least be a useful sort as a three year old. The winner though has the measure of her division for the time being, but it's left to be seen how effective she'll be over more ground. [ROG]

Analysis:
A perfectly timed run against this under-accomplished group saw the Aysha Syndicate four year old WHO'S CALLING register her first win for some time. She had to work quite steadily at wearing down the tough runner-up who was in receipt of 3lbs due to the winner's 5lb apprentice claim. Moonstone was fancied in the betting market and looked set to deliver after leading for most of the way. Nonetheless he continued his campaign here with another game effort, and has now been in the money all three starts since the application of cheek-pieces. Six year old Van Helsing who has been quite dismal for the most part recently, with this run offering some encouragement to his connections of him winning against a similar bunch. Sweet And Sour was quite unlucky to not have finished closer having been subjected to trouble on at least two occasions during the running. Being roughly treated by the runner-up for most of the way only spoiled what could've conceivably been a successful start to her new connections' association with the filly. [ROG]

Analysis:
Quite another pleasing performance by the Jonathan Simpson trainee BRAM STOKER who convincingly dismissed his rivals. Owned by the trainer's mother, the handsome bay benefited from a relatively light impost and another patient ride and returned handsome dividends for his connections. He had it won when again quickening a furlong from the money, and was ridden out to assure defeat of long-time leader Wash Brook. The runner-up did most things right today, and really couldn't have been asked to do more in the final furlong. Old faithful Top Lady delivered another decent effort in spite of meeting traffic problems at the critical 3f pole. She kept on strongly in deep stretch suggesting that she's still in form likely to provide a win. Bloumberg was offered at similar odds to the winner despite being handicapped at 128lbs. He was snagged back to race behind most and found himself with little room to progress, and eventually too much ground to cover in the end. [ROG]

Analysis:
A very competitive event despite hot favourite St. Nicholas Bay losing his chances at the start and never being involved in the outcome. Two and a half lengths easily covered the first five home, with the winner AYE AYE CAPITANE coming at the death to nip the trail-blazing Fully Loaded. Though runner-up today, Fully Loaded could find winner's row again soon having now been dropped a few notches in class. Eastern Peace is still racing as a shadow of his former self, and may need a further drop to assure a win. Irish Thunder started as a worthy second favourite, but was kept out of it by a lack of room until deep stretch, and he should be in for a higher finish next time. [ROG]

Analysis:
A somewhat predictable renewal to this year's BTBA Juvenile Stakes, as the first four home finished virtually as expected. The Robert Peirce-trained pair of RUSH CUTTER and Spellbound continue to trade places in these juvenile contests, and the trend continued with the winner punctuating that point with a near stakes record-breaking run in the even. Except a previously hidden talent emerges from the woodwork, the pair look poised to continue dominating the juvenile events with impressive showings. Spellbound is undoubtedly a talented horse at these shorter trips, and was not disgraced in defeat. The near future still looks bright for the chestnut who has only ever been beaten by her conqueror of today. Fedrica hasn't been going through with her run, often finding little when it mattered most. She can easily win a maiden contest, but surely the sometimes overwhelming lure of the upcoming valuable 2YO races may keep her in this company for a while yet. Amanyara was expected to give a bigger effort since showing considerable improvement on her previous run. She raced just behind the leading trio but was never able to get on competitive terms throughout the five and a half furlongs. She still deserves another shot at stakes glory so one could perhaps write off this run as somewhat false. The others were miles behind the first four and all looked quite backward in comparison. The result highlighted a double on the day for the winner's dam Alyander, who's also responsible for Aye Aye Capitane in the day's previous event. [ROG]

NO WINNERS CARRIED OVER TO RACE#8
Analysis:
Another 1-2 finish for the leading stable as MILLENNIUM MILE saw off the more favoured All Aboard, albeit just barely in a thrilling finish to this handicap. The winner got away at 14/1 having made every pole a winning one, running her opponents ragged except the runner-up who shook loose late. All Aboard was asked to shoulder the second high-weight of 132lbs and ran quite creditably though taken out of his usual running style of running freely upfront. The forced change in tactics found him behind horses and with some cover in the early stages, but though full of run by the furlong pole the grey just missed catching the winner. Johnny Sad Boy occupied a box seat position in clear view of the winner and traveled kindly for apprentice Latchman. He clipped heels with the winner when attempting to sneak through on the rail, then found little afterwards and failed to get by. Athena raced closer to the pace than in previous tries and that may've deprived her today of the customary late kick she normally shows. [ROG]

Analysis:
Two 1-2 finishes were obviously insufficient, and so the day's most successful combination added insult to injury with another dominating result when favourite BOUNCEBAK narrowly held improving three year old Don Portalsonny at bay in the day's second feature. Sent to the front as usual and attempting to set a dawdling gallop, the daughter of Janak was soon forced into a stamina test by the third-place finisher and Heaven Sent, albeit briefly. The mare however, answered the challenge and once asked to stretch by jockey Ward easily had the field in trouble. The weight difference between her and Don Portalsonny perhaps began to tell in the end, and the younger fellow also hit his best stride late as he was gaining considerably in the last few jumps. Vandross kept the winner honest until beaten for acceleration just over two furlongs out. Although in the heat early and forced to commit at the three furlong pole, he stayed on surprisingly well to be a clear third and not too far off the winner. Hawayan Tropic gave them all a sizeable head-start when refusing to jump quickly from her barrier. She caught up quickly with the group but was never able to fully relax and save enough for the all important final quarter mile. With this win, BOUNCEBAK again made a solid case for herself, and in fact may've sealed the race for Champion Older Creole. [ROG]

Analysis:
Perhaps another success story is just beginning with VICTOR LUDORUM finally achieving a long-awaited maiden in this below average company. On this form, the extent of his progression is unlikely to be such to raise alarms, but the fact that he's now in the care of the ever patient trainer Philip Batson augurs well for his chances of winning many more races. He's physically a more impressive specimen now than last season, and the effort here confirms his well-being as he won under a hand ride and with little fuss. Hypa Cat has not come this close to winning for quite some time, but seems to be returning to some respectable type of form in this lowest class. Lady Patrick is still in search of a maiden win, and this is more likely a possibility should she be seen out in this company over a similar trip in short order. Midnight Waltz won a poor 9f event back in April but has been hard pressed to find the line again. This is undoubtedly short of her ideal trip, but she stuck to the task at hand and finished quite well along the rail to grab the smallest part of the purse. [ROG]

Analysis:
Chalk up a fifth win on the day for Lord Michael Taylor-Clifton Racing and Robert Peirce as their star sprinter KINGDORA emphatically reclaimed his unofficial "Sprint King" crown with a powerful performance against the 116-140 group. The creole asserted himself well once turning for the judge and had it won in a few devastating strides, leaving behind Spa Sprint conqueror Who's Cruisin toiling in his wake. The five year old readily dismissed the opposition and chalked up his fourteenth career score with this trouncing of virtually the best sprinters around and needs only to add the prestigious Spa Sprint Stakes to complete his resumé. Who's To Say beat the winner on their last meeting back in April when in receipt of 12lbs. There was an 8lbs spread on this occasion and having not raced since then may've needed a "blow-out" to be at his best. John Brian was late on the scene and just missed second place money. The now five year old has not won a race in over a year now, though somewhat consistently in the money whenever tried. He hasn't been campaigned much at this trip since the highly successful two year old days, and it was pleasing to see the return to this journey was almost a successful one. Spicey Tiger was badly out-paced and pushed along early on. Under a vigorous drive he stuck gamely to his guns and got the better of mostly spent forces in the dying stages. [ROG]
